'I piedi sull'erba', 'La carriola', 'Il soffio'
con Carlos Augusto Carvalho
regia: Roberto Bacci
consulenza drammaturgica: Stefano Geraci

a production by the Compagnia Laboratorio di Pontedera and Cacà Carvalho

This production is based on three novellas by Luigi Pirandello: 'Feet on the Grass', 'The Wheelbarrow' and 'The Breath'  It is directed by Roberto Bacci and performed by the Brazilian actor Cacà Carvalho, who has collaborated with the Fondazione Pontadera Teatro over fifteen years.

Working on La Poltrona Scura showed us a less well-known and disquieting aspect of Pirandello.  He put us in front of a mirror in which it is painful but necessary to recognise ourselves.

The themes developed psychologically and socially by the protagonists are more relevant than ever.  In 'I piedi sull'erba', the loneliness of a widowed father reveals the cruelty of the inevitable succession of generations and the progressive isolation of those living through the last phase of their life.  In 'La Carriola' a respected and renowned lawyer unmasks the misery of the human condition in a crescendo of tragic-comedy, through the confession of an inadmissible pleasure.  In 'Il Soffio', maybe the most magical and metaphysical of the three, the protagonist discovers that he has the power to take lives just by touching his thumb and forefinger together. An epidemic develops from this invisible and undetectable power that ends up destroying the protagonist himself.
